In a startling turn of events, one of the women from Sandeshkhali in Bengal's North 24 Parganas district, who had previously accused Trinamool Congress leaders of rape, has recanted her allegations. The woman asserted that she had not been subjected to assault and instead pointed fingers at local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) members, accusing them of coercing her into filing a false police complaint.

According to reports, she lodged a new complaint at the Sandeshkhali police station, citing threats and social ostracism stemming from her decision to retract the purportedly fabricated rape accusation.The woman herself recounted her version of events, stating, "They asked for my signature on the pretext of enlisting my name for PMAY. Later, they took me to the police station to lodge a complaint of sexual abuse."

Echoing the woman's claims, Shashi Panja, Bengal's minister for women and child development and social welfare, accused the BJP of orchestrating the ordeal and subsequently intimidating the women who sought to withdraw their false complaints. Trinamool Congress has announced its intent to file a complaint with the Election Commission against BJP's Suvendu Adhikari and others, based on a purported video implicating Adhikari in the conspiracy behind the false rape accusations.

In response to these allegations, West Bengal BJP president Sukanta Majumdar has dismissed the "sting operation" video as "fake" and raised suspicions of its authenticity, suggesting the possibility of artificial intelligence (AI) manipulation.
